I was on the way to my friend’s new apartment and thought what a perfect time to do a restaurant review, so that’s what I did. I went to Tortas Paquime, for those who don’t know what a trota is; it is a Mexican sandwich with tomato avocado hot sauce and usually a special sauce. The special sauce at this fine establishment was a chipotle sour cream (not as spicy or as good as mine) Check out the recipe in a previous post called chipotle sour cream. I get there and try to take a picture of the sign like I always do but the camera could not focus on it so I took a picture of….
FOOD: B+
A napkin holder lol, I decided to order a torta this time. I have been here a number of times but only order the frescas con crema (fresh strawberries and cream, Amazing). I order the sandwich which gave me time to look around. They have a fresh bakery section for Mexican postres, a salsa bar and you can watch them cook your sandwich right in front of you. I ordered the cubana a side of fries and frescas con crema and a fresh horchata which they make daily. I get my food the sandwich was pretty good the only bad thing I can say is that I went right around closing time and the bread was not fresh. That to me is the key to an amazing sandwich I give that a B, the horchata was great give that an A, and the frescas con crema was and always is amazing. The salsa bar had there different types of salsa, green, chipotle and salsa roja. The green salsa made out of tomatillos was the best.
PRICE: B+
Everything that I got was around $15, the prices are similar to subway but the food is better.
CLEANLINESS: D
The inside and outside were pretty clean but there was dirty tables around me and the table I sat at was not properly wiped down.
OVERALL: B-
Overall I give it a B- the food was great and the frescas con crema was awesome. When you go there you have to get the frescas con crema. Locations and contact information for the restaurant is located on the menu. Make it a great day and eat well, you deserve it.
